Danny Hylton: 2012/2013 Biography & Statistics

Danny is a forward whose endless running makes him a handful for defences.

His scored 34 in 39 appearances for the Shots youth team and made his senior debut in January 2006. He also won that season's youth team 'Player of the Year' award.

In March 2007, he went on loan to Harlow Town, but got injured on his debut.

Danny signed full contract forms at the Rec in May 2007 and played sufficiently well to be rewarded by him signing a contract extension in February 2008 which committed him to the club until the end of the 2009-10 season.

In 2007-08, Danny helped the Shots reach the FA Trophy Semi-Finals, win the Setanta Shield and gain promotion to the Football League as Blue Square Premier champions.

Danny scored on his first-ever Football League start when he netted the equaliser in an enthralling 3-3 draw with Bury at the EBB Stadium in October 2008 (after the Shots had trailed 3-0). That goal was also Danny's first-ever Football League goal.

Danny started just five league games in 2009-10 (being used more as an 'impact' substitute) and scored three goals as the Shots qualified for the play-offs by virtue of finishing sixth before bowing out to Rotherham United in the semi-finals.

Despite his lesser involvement during the 2009-10 season (he made just five league starts), Danny was still seen as an important memebr of the squad, a fact reflected by him signing a new one-year deal just before the season's end. He scored three goals during the campaign as the Shots qualified for the play-offs by virtue of finishing sixth before bowing out to Rotherham United in the semi-finals.

The 2010-11 season saw Danny have a greater involvement as he played in three-quarters of the Shots' games in all competitions. During that time, he was part of the side that beat League 1 side Brentford in an FA Cup first round replay and, conversely, that lost at Conference South outfit Dover Athletic in the next round.

He was often played in midfield, which was contributory to him scoring just six goals. However, his goal against Oxford United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round was one of the nominations for the competition's 'Ultimate Finish' award and he performed well enough to be given a one-year contract extension in February 2011.

Danny scored the last-minute winner in the giant-killing defeat of Championship side West Ham United in the League Cup first round at Upton Park in late August 2011 (the club's first-ever victory in the competition) and was also part of the Shots team that beat League 1 sides Carlisle United and Rochdale (scored a superb angled winner) before losing to FA Premier League giants Manchester United at a sold-out EBB Stadium in round four (the furthest the club had ever gone in the competition).

He started all-but three league games in 2011-12 and top-scored with 16 goals in all competitions.
