Kirk Wheeler: 2012/2013 Biography & Statistics

Kirk commenced employment with Aldershot Town F.C. as Community Manager in 2004 having previously managed the award winning schemes of Wimbledon F.C. (in the Premier League) and Watford F.C.( in the Premier League, Championship and League 1) During his time at these clubs he built up an extensive knowledge of community work and player development and had the pleasure of witnessing boys progress from both schemes to play at Premiership and Football League level.

Since taking up his role at 'the Shots' Kirk assisted by a team of part-time coaches have increased sporting participation levels throughout Aldershot's locality and surround working with many schools, youth clubs and day centres. This work led to Kirk personally receiving an award from the Football Association for his services to football development in 2005.

In 2006 under Kirk's guidance the Scheme successfully secured funding from the Football Foundation to run a five year Disability Programme. In total the scheme received £193,000 funding which remains one of the largest ever received by a, then, non-league club. This funding has led to Aldershot developing a comprehensive disability programme that having initially started in Rushmoor now also encompasses Hart district and affords Children and Adults of all disabilities the opportunity to engage in health related activities.

In 2008 ,following Aldershot Town's promotion back to the football league, Kirk was instrumental when the scheme achieved the 'Football League Trusts Bronze Accreditation Award'. This award also entitled the Scheme to start receiving monthly funding to further progress the programme and in 2009 whilst increasing activity and participation levels Kirk assisted the Scheme to make the transition to that of a 'Charitable Trust'.

Now operating as 'Aldershot Town F.C. Community Trust' the trust is continuing to expand under Kirk's management with development pathways being established for many different groups and individuals. In 2010 an example of this work was rewarded when the trust picked up its first award in recognition of its work on the Gateway regeneration project in conjunction with local Secondary school Connaught.

Through the trusts work it is Kirk's aim to continue to progress as many community areas as financially viable whilst continuing to promote Aldershot Town F.C. in every activity, exposing the club to the largest target audience possible
