Adam Mekki: 2012/2013 Biography & Statistics

Of Tunisian and Welsh descent, Adam is a skilful right-footed midfielder, who can also play as a winger or a forward.

He played schoolboy football at Reading before joining Aldershot Town in the summer of 2006, with his consistency in the Shots' youth team seeing him progress to playing for the reserve side in the latter part of the 2008-09 season. He signed as a scholar in the summer of 2009 and went on to play and score regularly for both the youth and reserve teams in 2009-10. He was also part of the first team squad, for whom he was an unused substitute on three occasions.

In March 2010, Adam was a member of the Shots' youth team that beat Havant and Waterlooville to win the Hampshire Midweek Invitation Youth Cup; the following month, he was part of a youthful reserve side that lost to AFC Totton in the final of the Hampshire Senior Cup.

Adam trained regularly with the first team squad in 2010-11 and, as part of his continued preparation for senior football, he was loaned to Southern League Premier Division side Oxford City in the January. He scored his first goal in senior football against Swindon Supermarine midway through the first month of his loan and his will to impress led to him being knocked unconscious and stretchered off against Chesham United a week later!

Adam scored his second goal for City in a 5-0 demolition of Weymouth in early February before, having continually earned rave reviews during the short time that he had been at Court Place Farm, making his senior Shots debut as a late substitute against Macclesfield Town at the EBB Stadium seven days later.

Adam's talents and commitment were rewarded in April 2011, when he was awarded a two-year pro contract by Shots boss Dean Holdsworth.

He continually improved in 2011-12 and played in the victory over League 1 Carlisle United in the League Cup second round. He was loaned to Conference South outfits Dorchester Town and Basingstoke Town in order to gain some game time before returning to scored his first Shots goal in the terrific home win over league leaders Southend United in mid-February 2012.
