Guest Of The Day Against Rochdale - Paul Shrubb

Aldershot Town Football Club are delighted to announce that the club's official guest of the day for Saturdays Coca- Cola League 2 match against Rochdale will be Paul Shrubb.

Paul served both Aldershot FC and Aldershot Town FC with distinction, and also had spells as both Assistant manager and caretaker manager with the post-1992 Shots.

Guildford-born Paul commenced his career as an apprentice with Fulham prior to signing full professional terms at Craven Cottage in 1972. He remained at Fulham for three years, after which he had a two year spell playing in South Africa with Hellenic FC. Upon returning to the UK, Paul linked up with last Tuesday night's opponents Brentford, where he spent five successful years.

While at Griffin Park Paul racked up 182 football league appearances and was a member of the Bees 1978 promotion winning squad.

Paul's first spell at the Recreation Ground began in 1982 when he was signed for the club by Len Walker. He went on to make a total of 174 appearances, and was a member of The Shots 1987 promotion winning squad. Paul holds the unique distinction of wearing every shirt from 1-12 while playing for The Shots.

In 1987 Paul departed Aldershot to become player coach of local rivals Woking, and he held down similar roles at several local clubs before Steve Wignall brought him to the newly-formed Aldershot Town as player assistant manager in October 1992. Paul remained in this role until Wignall's departure to Colchester United, when he held the position of caretaker manager for one match (a victory at Berkhamstead Town).

At this point Paul decided to retire from playing to concentrate on his duties as assistant manager to The Shots' new boss Steve Wigley, a position he held until both Wigley and he left the club in 1997.

Since then Paul has worked as a scout for Charlton Athletic, who provided the opposition for Paul's testimonial match at The EBB Stadium in August 2007.

Aldershot Town are delighted to welcome Paul back to the club for Saturdays game. He will be introduced to supporters on the pitch at half time when he will conduct the 50/50 draw.
