Aldershot Town FC are delighted to announce that the official guest for Tuesday night's FA Cup first round replay against Brentford will be none other than popular ex Brentford and Shots midfield star Paul Shrubb.

Paul is still a regular visitor to The EBB Stadium, and we are delighted to welcome him back as the official guest for the game between two clubs where he really is regarded as a legend at both.

Paul was born in Guildford and started his football career as an apprentice with Fulham before signing professional terms with them in 1972. He left Craven Cottage in 1975 and spent two years playing in South Africa with Hellenic FC, before returning to the UK and signing for Brentford FC.

Paul spent 5 happy years at Griffin Park, making 182 appearances for The Bees and was a member of their 1978 promotion winning squad.

Paul arrived at Aldershot FC in 1982 and began a long association with both the pre and post 1992 clubs. For Aldershot FC, Paul made a total of 174 league appearances in 5 years, before leaving to commence his coaching career at Woking. Similar spells at several other clubs followed before Paul returned to the newly formed Aldershot Town in 1992 as player/assistant manager to Steve Wignall, a role he remained in until Wignall's departure in January 1995. Paul had one game as the clubs caretaker manager after which he retired from playing to concentrate on his role as assistant manager to newly appointed manager Steve Wigley.

Paul left the club at the same time as Wigley in 1997 and has subsequently worked as a scout for Charlton Athletic and Plymouth Argyle.

Paul is without a doubt one of the most popular individuals ever involved with football in Aldershot and we are delighted to welcome him to the EBB Stadium as our special guest on Tuesday night. He will be introduced onto the pitch at half time.
