Aldershot Town v Port Vale Match Preview

The Shots will want to start off the busy Easter period by picking up three important points against Port Vale

Aldershot Town v Port Vale
Friday 6th April
EBB Stadium

Team News – Shots Aldershot boss Dean Holdsworth has nearly a fully-fit squad available for the game. The manager will be hoping Pete Vincenti will have recovered from the illness that saw him miss last weekend's draw at Shrewsbury. One player who will not be available for Aldershot is Michael Doughty. The midfielder has returned to his parent club QPR, he made five appearances in total. Shots are still without long-term absentees Michael Rankine, Alex Rodman and Ross Worner.

Team News – Port Vale – Port Vale have only a couple of injury problems ahead of their trip to the EBB. Midfielders Rob Taylor and Chris Shuker are both struggling to be fit in time for the clash on Friday. Micky Adams however does have defender Joe Davis back after he completed his suspension.

Form The Shots have been in great form of late. Dean Holdsworth’s men have collected 29 points from a possible 39. Aldershot came within 12 minutes of claiming an impressive victory at promotion chasing Shrewsbury Town last Saturday. Josh Payne gave the Shots the lead at the start of the second half from the penalty spot, but former Shots striker Marvin Morgan equalised late on.

Port Vale have been in poor form recently, losing four out of their last five league game. In their last fixture they went down 1-0 at the hands of Dagenham & Redbridge. Micky Spillane’s second half strike was enough to secure all three points for the visitors.

Last Meeting: Port Vale 4-0 Aldershot Town 17/12/2011
It was a bad day at the office for the Shots when the two teams last met. The now Aldershot striker Guy Madjo hit a hat trick against his future club back in December. Sean Rigg rounded off the scoring in what was the Shots’ biggest defeat of the season so far.
